Morris Dixon Says ‘Nothing To Hide In FID Selection’

Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Senator Dana Morris Dixon, has dismissed concerns over a lack of transparency in the selection process for the new head of the Financial Investigations Division (FID), insisting the Government has "nothing to hide."

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, the Minister addressed reports that the Government had blocked Access to Information (ATI) requests related to changes in the job criteria for the FID's top post.

Senator Morris Dixon defended the adjustment—specifically the inclusion of law enforcement experience—as a non-controversial move. “It didn’t seem controversial to the team because the criteria in relation to law enforcement experience was not one that was there from the very beginning,” she explained.

The statement comes amid public scrutiny over the selection process and questions about whether the changes were made to favour a specific candidate. However, the Minister reiterated that the modifications were procedural and did not undermine the integrity of the process.
