Tina Clayton delivered the performance of her life on Friday night at the National Stadium, storming to a personal best 10.81 seconds to win her first senior national 100m title and etch her name into Jamaica’s elite sprinting ranks.
However, what should have been a night of double celebration for the Clayton twins turned bittersweet.
Tia Clayton, who had earlier impressed with a 10.86-second win in her semi-final and was considered a strong contender for the title, pulled up injured just metres from the finish line during the final.
Tina’s triumph marks a major milestone in her transition from junior to senior ranks, while concern now turns to Tia’s condition as the national team prepares for a busy international season.
