Miss Universe Jamaica and St Elizabeth native, Miss Daena Soares represented the island well Sunday evening at the 70th Miss Universe Pageant which was held at The Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel.
The 22-year-old graduate of the University of the West Indies was unfortunately not named among the top 16 semi- finalist, but according to co-director of the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization, Mark McDermoth Daena “represented very well”.
McDermoth went on to say, “Daena did everything right, and we are very proud of her performance throughout the competition, she worked very hard, but we understand and we accept the outcome”.
Congratulations to Harnaaz Sandhu of India, Andrea Meza of Mexico crowned her successor at the end of the event. This is India’s first victory after 21 years, and its third in history.
