44 Murders In April, The Lowest Number Of Murders In A Single Month In 25 Years

April 2025 recorded the lowest number of murders in a single month in 25 years, with 44 killings.

This follows February's record setting low of 48 homicides.

The first quarter of 2025, saw a 35.9 percent drop in murders, compared to the same period in 2024.

Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake has indicated that this marks the sixth consecutive quarter of decline, with the first quarter showing the sharpest drop in major crimes since 2001.

In a statement, Prime Minister Andrew Holness credited this record, to the Jamaica Constabulary Force JCF, as well as to investments in national security.
