40 Years Later Sister Nancy Still Topping Charts

Share

For the first time in her decades-long career, dancehall legend Sister Nancy has officially made her debut on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Her iconic 1982 project One, Two enters at an impressive No. 3 this week, proving that classics never go out of style.

The resurgence comes after a limited vinyl re-release of just 3,000 copies dropped on Record Store Day (April 14) via VPAL/VP Records.

The project, which also cracked the UK’s Official Independent Album Break-ers chart at No. 4, features some of Nancy’s most timeless tracks: One, Two, Transport Connection, and the globally sampled Bam Bam. Originally recorded at Channel One Studios on Maxfield Avenue, the album boasts production from the late Winston Riley and musical firepower from a dream team of Jamaican legends, including Sly & Robbie, Dean Fraser, Steely, Flabba, Santa, and Sky Juice.
