A 4 year old boy died in hospital after being beaten by step-father for eating food slowly.
According to reports, the boy identified as Nashawn Brown was beaten with a piece of stick by his stepfather at their home in Willowdene, Spanish Town St Catherine
It is also understood that the mother was also assaulted by her spouse as she intervened.
Shortly after, the child became unresponsive and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The stepfather is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
He is expected to be charged for the assault.
Post-mortem results will determine if additional charges can be proffered.
