Approximately 30 people were detained during a major joint police/military operation in Ackee Walk, St. Andrew this morning.
Head of the St. Andrew North Police Acting Superintendent, ASP Randy Sweeney said that at least 2 of the individuals will be investigated for suspected breaches of the Law Reform (Special Provisions) Fraudulent Transaction Act or Lottery Scamming Act.
ASP Sweeney said several persons of interest are among those apprehended.
He added that investigations are underway to determine if one of the detainees is a wanted person.
ASP explained that the operation comes amid a spike in crime in the division.
He said the operation will continue as the police push back against criminals.
