Several communities across the country are now seeing heightened police presence following a bloody weekend and at least two double murders, among the 25 murders recorded between Friday evening an Sunday night.

In one of the latest incidents yesterday, three persons including an elderly woman was shot and killed while four other others were wounded in Quarrie District, St. James.

Another of the triple murders took place in the Lincoln crescent community of western Kingston.

An elderly man was killed the day prior.

Commanding officer for the division, senior superintendent Michael Phipps, while noting that the murders are gang related, said the police have intervened in the community, with the aim of working with residents to come up with a solution to the crime problem.
