20-year-old faced with firearm charges


Detectives assigned to the St. James Division have arrested and charged a man with Illegal Possesion of Firearm and Ammuniton following the seizure of one Springfield pistol with a magazine containing five .40 rounds of ammunition during an operation on Market Street, Montego Bay, St. James on Thursday, September 16.

Charged is 20-year-old, Romaine Morrison otherwise called ‘Tall P’, of Lower King Street in St. James.

Reports are that about 11:00 p.m., lawmen were in the area when they saw Morrison walking along the roadway, whose actions aroused their suspicions. On seeing the Police, Morrison threw the firearm over a fence. He was accosted, searched and a search of the area was conducted and the firearm was retrieved. Morrison was subsequently taken into custody and charged.

His court date is being finalised.
