The Guild of Students of the University of the West Indies says significant progress has been made in reducing the amount owed by finalizing students for tuition fees.

Late last month, it was revealed that over 200 finalizing students faced being barred from exams because they owed the university a total of fifty million dollars.

Guild President, Sujae Boswell, says the Guild has made a contribution which assisted about 100 students and other assistance have been received.

The outstanding amount has been reduced to 30 million dollars.
