Minister of Education Fayval Williams said it is expected that more than 125,000 devices would have been issued to students islandwide by the end of the school year.
She made the announcement while speaking Thursday at a device handing over ceremony at the Ferris Primary School in Westmoreland.
21 tablets were donated to the Ferris Primary School during the ceremony.
Mrs. Williams noted that technology will be a permanent aspect of the education system even after COVID-19.
