Days after Trinidad & Tobago's Prime Minister Stuart Young met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the T&T Government has announced that it has received eleven nationals deported from the US.
In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of National Security that the group were among 14 held by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
They arrived on Friday on a chartered flight at the Piarco International Airport.
According to the National Security Ministry, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago received advance notice from ICE via the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs on March 21, and an international Commercial Air Transport Permit for the chartered flight was applied for on March 24 and was granted by the Civil Aviation Authority on March 25 to facilitate the return of the deportees.
