The Agriculture Ministry, through the Jamaica 4-H Clubs, has announced that it's partnered with Alkaline’s New Rules Festival to launch New Era Agriculture; a two-day workshop exploring the viability of agriculture as a culturally relevant path for Jamaican youth.
The programme will be held in Trelawny on July 2–3, ahead of the New Rules Festival, which takes place on Saturday, July 5, at the Trelawny Stadium.
According to the Ministry, the program is designed to align youth energy with national development, under the theme: “New Era Agriculture – Youth, Culture and Innovation in the Field.”
Minister of Agriculture, Floyd Green, sees the initiative as an innovative approach to youth engagement.
Beyond the workshop, the initiative is set provide employment for 50–80 youth from the Trelawny area, who will be trained and hired to support the New Rules Festival.
