The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission JCDC is working along with the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and the HEART Trust/NTA to get its annual festival workshops accredited.
Music Development Specialist at the JCDC, Avory Crooks-Campbell, said this is being done to equip participants with an instrument to use if they decide to further their studies in the arts after having completed the workshops.
The annual workshops, which start during the first week of November, are a lead-up to the Festival of the Performing Arts Competition, which begins in January.
Crooks-Campbell explained that the sessions are intended to prepare performers and improve the standard of the festivals.
They help in the general development of performers in various arts, such as dance, music, drama, speech and traditional folk forms.
