Workers under Labour Ministry’s work program in Florida safe following hurricane Michael’s passing


The Chief Laison Officer of the Jamaica Central Labour Organisation in the US has confirmed that all workers on the Labour Ministry’s overseas work program are safe and accounted for.

This follows the devastation of sections of Florida by hurricane Michael.

Netty Scarlett-Jones says there are many Jamaican workers in the state of Florida, but non employed under the Ministry’s program was directly impacted .

She states that while she could give an account for the large number of Jamaicans employed in the hospitality and agricultural sectors of Florida under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s overseas employment program, she could not confirm that other Jamaicans employed under private schemes were not impacted .
